CREATION - NAME - RECOGNITION

« The name of the Monegasque martial art ‘Muneguda’ that I created, is composed of ‘Mùnegu’, meaning ‘Monaco’ in Monegasque, and the initials of ‘Defence Art’.. I wished the creation date of birth was the 11 June 2020, the date on which HSH Prince Albert II was informed of the nature of this new project », says Claude Pouget

« My intention was to show my gratitude to my country and its language. The Principality of Monaco was a fundamental cornerstone for me, allowing me to progress throughout the years in martial arts, a great passion of mine, by virtue of their technicality and their many advantages, but also due to the ethical and humanist values they promote.»

DEFINITION OF MUNEGUDA, MONEGASQUE MARTIAL ART FOR ALL FROM 3 YEARS OLD

« Muneguda, can be practiced, at the choice of  practitioners, as :

  • An art of defense,

    educatively (for the youngest), as an art of living, of well-being, in leisure or professionally, allowing, within an ethical framework (such, the respect of self-defense), to face different types of threats or attacks, from oneself or from others, using simple, pragmatic, fast and effective defense techniques, adapted to the characteristics of the different groups of practitioners;

  • A combat sport,

in competition, governed by sporting, secure and ethical regulations, under development, in accordance with the standards of the official sports movement, using selected techniques during specific events (techniques, combats or assaults).

These two approaches: art of leisure defense or, for those who wish it, combat sport, will allow in their respective field: the fortification of the mind, the awakening to the strategies, the learning and the use of techniques, themaintenance physical, while being adapted to the characteristics of the different audiences of practitioners.

Muneguda brings for all benefits from a physical, psychological and social point of view. »

SYNTHESIS ART OF A TWENTY DISCIPLINES

Muneguda, an art of synthesis, draws its essence from my expertise or experience:

On the one hand, over nearly half a century of practice or teaching of martial arts or combat sports, being the holder of :

  • six expert certifications,
  • fifteen black belts,
  • ten state diplomas ;
  • competitor combat or technique in several disciplines.

with training received in Monaco and internationally, Certified in nearly twenty disciplines and having practiced, for several of them, as a competitor (combat or techniques).

Thus, depending on the adaptation to different audiences of practitioners. we will find inspirations that can come from disciplines such as Kickboxing, Self-Defense Krav-Maga, Karate, K1-Rules, Full-contact, Kickboxing Defense, Contact Defense, English Boxing, Muaythaï , Boxing, Sambo, Personal Defense, Wushu, Penchak Silat, Wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts, Judo Jujitsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kyusho and Grappling.

On the other hand, for about thirty years, exercising the functions of police officer in Monaco, having been in particular in charge of the elite unit of intervention and protection of high personalities or legal trainer, having a master's degree in law, in Self-Defense within the police academy or in Self-Defense in the active services of the Monegasque Police.»

INDIVIDUALIZED APPROACH

« The Muneguda teaching takes place within the framework of a pedagogical approach and an environment adapted to the rhythm and specificities of each person.

Different categories of Munegudals (practitioners of Munaguda) will find a synthesis created around the theme of Personal Defence, but adapted and customised to their persona, as it is linked, on the one hand, to the age characteristics of the mixed audience it represents (children, teenagers, adults, seniors) and to the level of practice or, on the other hand, to certain specific priority objectives: leisure, competition, well-being, etc.

To describe these different syntheses, we mention in this context: MUNEGUDA BABY (3-5 years), EDUCATIONAL MUNEGUDA CHILDREN (6-10 years) or TEENS (11-14 years), etc. or, on the other hand or from another perspective, as per the priority objective set, other than that of SELF-DEFENCE (qualified as MUNEGUDA in the strict sense), we particularly have MUNEGUDA KICK/THAI BOXING, MUNEGUDA LEISURE, or MUNEGUDA WELL-BEING.

Different approaches but with similar virtues. »

MORAL CODE, SOCIAL AND ETHICAL VALUES

« The moral code of Muneguda attests to these values, shared by many martial arts, in the Monegasque Language, respect for which is the first condition of its practice. These are: Benevolence, Respect, Courage, Sincerity, Honor, Modesty, Self-Control, Politeness

As a martial art, Muneguda will prioritize social and ethical values.

  • Ethical salute

The salute which takes place with the right hand, positioned on the heart, and whose arm then opens circularly, evoking the action and intention of opening one's heart to the other.

In Muneguda too everything begins and everything ends with the salute

  • Symbolic logo

The “MUNEGUDA” logo is composed of the letter “M”, which is the first letter in “Munegu”; above we see positioned the sketched drawing of a bird, an eagle or maybe a dove, spreading its wings in a shape that resembles, on the upper part, a stylised heart.

It is internationally open and encourages tolerance and respect through the different martial arts or combat sports from different cultures that inspired its creation. »

MONEGASQUE ENVIRONMENT

« Muneguda places Monegasque culture at the heart of its practice.

  • The Monegasque language in the spotlight

Muneguda integrates, in part, in the vocabulary of its practice, a selection of around a hundred words in the Monegasque language, like many martial arts, particularly Asian ones, which will be used during the various lessons, and this allows our discipline to also be a vector in favor of knowledge of the culture of the Principality of Monaco.

We will thus find in these terms all that relates to the greeting and to the polite formulas but also to the consecrated terms, like “on guard” (Ün gàrdia), “action” (daghe) or even “greet” (salütè or salütè-ve ).

This lexicon has been drawn up with the kind contribution of Mrs. Karyn ARDISSONE SALOPEK and Mr. Stéphane MAGGI, Professor of Monegasque. ( Above 3 examples - to see more vocabulary please visit monegasque culture )

  • Defense of the social and ethical values dear to the Principality

It should be noted that Muneguda encourages its practitioners, especially the youngest, to support, through their action, themes dear to the Principality: mutual aid, humanitarian aid and sustainable development.

It will support these themes in the image of the International Academy of Martial Arts of Monaco, co-founder of the Federation of Muneguda, Monegasque martial art, having notably supported actions in the field of Peace and Sport or Friendship Without Borders.

  • Red: first color of belt worn by munegudal apprentices

The first grade in Muneguda will be red in color. Subsequent ranks will be marked by a change of belt color (or coat of arms).
  • The red and white dress of the Muneguda

The munegudals wear the red and white outfit to further mark the Muneguda's membership in the Principality. » declares Claude Pouget.
